An acute back injury will often present symptoms of inflammation and stiffness. To treat the injury the first step is to minimise the inflammation through using ICE.

Tip: When applying ice use a Chux Cloth to between the skin and the icepack to prevent an ice burn.

Once the ice is in place, gently rock the knees side to side to slightly stretch the lower back and open up the joints. This should be done in a slow and controlled manner as the injury is still in the acute phase and should not be pushed to far to early.
