Polly Dhar Demonstrates The Star Excursion Test
The Star Excursion Test is a clinical test used to assess neuromuscular control of the trunk, pelvis, and lower extremities, for the purpose of injury prevention and rehabilitation.
The layout of the test includes two pairs of perpendicular lines. The first pair of lines was in the horizontal and vertical directions, while the second set of lines are placed at 45° angle to the horizontal and vertical lines creating a star.
Key Points:
- Keep your hips and shoulders facing forwards at all times
- Reach out as far as you can (keep the standing leg knee at about 45 degrees)
- Keep your heel down at all times.
- Repeat three times before swapping legs.
