I recently had the pleasure of travelling with the VIC-NSW swimming team as they ventured to Stanford, California for the 2019 USA Swimming National Championships. The trip consisted of a five day training camp followed by five days of intense competition in the water. It was amazing to watch some of the best swimmers in the world compete against each other and it was a great learning experience for our athletes to see what it takes to be number one. We had some good success in the pool with personal best times broken and podium positions secured, particularly in the relay events. Outside of the pool, it was a great to check-out the world class sporting facilities that Stanford University boast and soak up some of that Californian summer sun. I wish the team all the best for their upcoming preparations for Olympic trials in June, before the big dance in Japan, 2020.
